Exodus 37:17-39:31
The Israelites used 29 talents and 730 shekels of gold, and 100 talents and 1,775 shekels of silver in the construction of their sanctuary (Exodus 38:24-25). That is 2,207 pounds of gold, and 7,594 pounds of silver. Based upon today's values, that's $19,951,280 worth of gold and $1,239,341 worth of silver! Where did these former Egyptian slaves get all that wealth? They had plundered the Egyptians when they were set free from their bondage there (Exodus 3:21-22; 12:35-36).
